A MAN accused of subjecting a care home worker to racist abuse and threatening him with a piece of concrete was jailed for ten months Wednesday for what a judge described as "drunken loutish" behaviour.

Judge Rhys Rowlands told Jonathan Cheshire, 20, a chef, of Marine Road, Pensarn, Abergele: "This was drunken aggression late at night, in a public place, with the most appalling racist abuse directed at another individual."
The judge said it had to be made clear such behaviour wouldn't be tolerated and racist aggression would be dealt with "firmly."

Cheshire admitted racially-aggravated threatening behaviour at

Abergele in September, damaging a police car, and assaulting a PC by
kicking his thigh.

Caernarfon crown court heard he also pushed the officer against a door frame causing minor injury.

Prosecutor Elen Owen said Cheshire had been found in a corridor at the care home, in the middle of the night, after emerging from a resident's room.
As well as insulting the care assistant, he had swung a punch but missed him.
Defence barrister Matthew Curtis said Cheshire had written an apology to the carer on his release from police custody.

"There's evidence here of genuine remorse. This verbal attack was vile and he knows it," the barrister remarked.
