A resident said the plants were dumped on Tremorfa Industrial Estate at around 10pm on Wednesday
A large pile of cannabis plants were dumped on an industrial estate in Cardiff.
Residents reported finding a number of the plants on Martin Road on Tremorfa Industrial Estate that are believed to have been dumped there at around 10pm on Wednesday.
David Roberts, who lives nearby, said: “I came out of my house last night because I heard some noise and by the end of the road there was just this massive pile of cannabis. It was everywhere.
“A lot of stuff has been dumped around here recently - furniture, bin bags - everything. It’s getting beyond a joke. We need a way of stopping it, but nothing is done about it.
“It’s so frustrating because we, the residents, are the ones who have to pay to have it cleaned up, and that’s happening all the time.”
Mr Roberts said it was the first time he had ever seen cannabis dumped on the estate. He added: “I was quite shocked myself. It’s not a very nice situation.”
Cardiff Council removed the plants on Thursday morning.
A council spokesman said: “One of our fly-tipping teams was in the area dealing with an unconnected issue when the plants were spotted and identified. Enforcement officers removed them and arranged their disposal.”
A spokeswoman for South Wales Police said: “The incident was not reported to us and we were not made aware of it until Thursday morning.”
She said officers would attend the scene on Thursday afternoon to make enquiries.
