Merthyr Tydfil,South Wales - Man who fell from bridge in Merthyr Tydfil was under the influence of alcohol, according to the fire service

A man who was reported to have fallen 12 feet from a bridge in Merthyr Tydfil was under the influence of alcohol, according to the fire service.
An emergency operation was launched on Sunday after a man reportedly fell from Jacksons Bridge over the River Taff onto the riverbank.
South Wales Police , fire crews and paramedics were called to the incident on Dynevor Street at around 7pm after reports of a man in the river.
When they arrived, a 35-year-old man was pulled to safety and was treated on the roadside by paramedics.
It was confirmed he had not fallen into the river and he was taken to Prince Charles Hospital for a check up.
A spokesperson for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that two people had been crossing the bridge when one fell over the side by accident.
The second person then attempted to aid the casualty, who is believed to have suffered minor injuries after falling onto the river bank.
Jennie Griffiths, head of South Wales Fire and Rescue Service Fire Control, tweeted: “Two males under the influence were rescued by fire crews from the river at Dynevor Street Merthyr Tydfil at 18.59.”
