A man who had stun guns used on him by police died from a stab wound to the neck and not as a result of being stunned, an inquest has heard.
Arlindo Furtado, 41, died in hospital after armed police were called to his house in Splott, Cardiff, last year in a standoff lasting several hours.
Pathologist Dr Stephen Leadbeatter found evidence of two Taser marks but said they were not the cause of death.
"The wound to the neck is sufficient to cause death," he said.
Aberdare Coroner's Court heard trained negotiators accompanied members of South Wales Police to 26 Adeline Street in Splott, on 11 October 2014.
Reports at the time said Mr Furtado was inside the house armed with a knife.
After a number of hours of negotiating, he sustained a neck wound and three officers discharged stun guns.
Prof Leadbeatter told the court his examination found evidence officers had discharged Tasers and two sets of Taser barbs had made contact with Mr Furtado's clothes, but they did not cause his death.
"However many times he was struck, I would not say the Taser in themselves caused the heart to stop."

'Violent incident'

The pathologist said Mr Furtado was conscious and able to talk to paramedics after both suffering the stab wound and the Tasers being discharged.
The inquest heard the day before his death, Mr Furtado told his partner Nicole Varela he would rather die than be without her and his children.
Reading a statement from Ms Varela, the coroner said she had been the victim of a "violent incident at his hands" the day before.
She said Mr Furtado "could be aggressive from time to time" but was also an "excellent father".
The night before he died, he kept calling her "asking for forgiveness" and had logged onto Facebook to say goodbye to family and friends, she added.
The inquest also heard Mr Furtado's ex-partner in Portugal had called police in Cardiff on the day of his death to express concerns about his welfare.
