A police probe was launched after 'human remains' were discovered over the weekend.
Remains were found by a member of the public on Saturday evening, police said
Forensics teams are in Cerrigydrudion examining the area where the discovery was made.
According to North Wales Police, the remains were discovered in a forest, but exact details have not been given.
The discovery was made at around 8.30pm on Saturday night.
A North Wales Police spokesman said: "Crime Scene Investigators attended the scene. The remains have been removed and will be subject to examination by a pathologist.
"Forensic inquiries are also on-going to establish how long the remains had been at the location."
