The jury has been sent home to deliberate for a second night
A murder trial jury has been sent home for a second night to carry on considering its verdict on a 16-year-old accused of stabbing a pensioner to death.
Cardiff Crown Court has heard how the schoolboy went to the home of Michael Harrington, 67, after suspecting him of sexually assaulting his 18-year-old sister.
A court was told that the angry teenager attacked the grandfather with a steak knife - allegedly stabbing him twice in his neck and ear.
But the court was told that there was never a formal complaint made against Mr Harrington who died four days after the alleged assault.

Prosecutor Roger Thomas QC said: "Within minutes of arriving at the address he stabbed this grandfather behind his right ear and on his neck.
"He was upset and angry with this man. He wanted an admission that he had indecently assaulted his sister.
"Mr Harrington was never arrested or tried and no complaint was ever made to the police.
"The defendant took the law into his own hands."
Cardiff Crown Court heard that an ambulance was called to Newport Street in Grangetown, Cardiff, shortly after the attack in August.
The court was told that during a 999 call the youth was overheard saying "I hope he dies after what he's done to my sister."
Mr Thomas QC said: "During the phone call another voice was heard saying: 'No police, no police'.
"When interviewed by police at the scene the defendant said: "He's a f***ing paedophile that will teach him."
A court heard that the youth used a steak knife from the pensioner's kitchen to carry out the alleged assault.
The jury was told the boy asked the pensioner for a glass of water before carrying out the attack.
Jurors were shown images of blood spots which were found in the victim's lounge and hallway.
The frail victim, who suffered from emphysema and heart disease, was taken to University Hospital of Wales and died four days later.
