POLICE have arrested 20 people across Swansea and Neath Port Talbot today in the latest in a series of "days of action" in the western division.
The arrests ranged from suspicion of breaching bail through to possession of drugs and domestic violence.
By 4pm some 20 people had been detained, though that number is expected to increase during the night as the operation continues.
Crime prevention also featured in the day, with student from the University of Wales Trinity St David's MetPol scheme joining officers in knocking on doors to awareness of how residents can keep themselves safe from opportunist criminals.
South Wales Police sergeant Gareth Jones said: "This operation was about targeting individuals wanted for various crimes and disrupting the activities of those involved in crime.
"Tackling crime and arresting suspects is very much daily business for us but these days of action bring together a range of different teams to work together to target individuals.
"The day was a success in cracking down on crime and taking action against individuals involved in various forms of criminality across our area."
Police also worked with staff from councils' trading standards department to execute warrants relating to the sale of counterfeit designer clothes.
A similar day of action in October saw a total of 32 arrests across the division.
