A CAT has died after being shot by an air rifle on New Year’s Eve.
As reported in the Leader on Thursday, Tina Lane of Albert Avenue, Flint, was heartbroken to receive a call from the RSPCA explaining that her cat Jester had been shot on New Year’s Eve.
As a result, the silver-spotted Bengal’s back legs had been paralysed and a pellet was found in his spine by veterinary physicians at the Village Vets in Buckley on Monday.
Mrs Lane, speaking to the Leader, explained that unfortunately Jester was put to sleep as there was a “less than five per cent chance he would have survived with any quality of life”.
The mother-of-two said: “We are all devastated especially my six-year-old grandson, it has affected us all.
“Even Jester’s breeder and her husband are heartbroken by the loss and said it’s a vile to do to someone’s loved pet.
“It was his birthday yesterday and he was two. He will be missed dreadfully.
“We just hope that whoever did this despicable thing is caught and we’d like to thank the local community for all their kind words.”
The RSPCA are appealing for any information to the shooting on New Year’s Eve.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the RSPCA inspectorate information line on 0300 123 8018.
