Two teenagers caught with illegal drugs in a car intended to sell them at the Glass Butter Beach music festival, a court heard today.
The youths from the Bangor area, who cannot be named because of their age, were back seat passengers in a car stopped by police near Pwllheli last August.
Cannabis was found in a plastic box handed to officers by a 17-year-old boy, and more of the drug were found in a tent bag belonging to a 16-year-old boy in the boot of the vehicle.
Both admitted a charge of being concerned in the supply of cannabis, a controlled drug of Class B, between January 1 and August 20 last year.
Further inquiries by police found the younger youth had also been concerned in the supply of cocaine and possessing MDMA (ecstasy) tablets with intent to supply. Both are controlled drugs of class A.
He also admitted possessing a Class C drug with intent to supply.
Mel Hughes, prosecuting at Caernarfon Youth Court, said that, on August 19 last year, police officers were conducting roadside checks on vehicles on the A499 at Penrhos near Pwllheli .
“One of the vehicles stopped was carrying the two defendants,” he said.
“They were in the rear seats and one of them handed officers a plastic box which contained a quantity of cannabis, plastic bags and scales.
“He told the officers there was another bag within a tent bag in the boot of the car. A search found more cannabis.”
Searches of the boys’ homes led to the seizure of a mobile phone belonging to the 16-year-old which revealed messages had been exchanged between them and others offering drugs for sale between January 1 and August 20 last year.
“Both were interviewed and admitted the possession of the cannabis, and they had intended to sell the drugs at the Glass Butter Beach festival site,” said Mr Hughes.
Neither boy, who were accompanied in court by their parents, had any previous convictions, reprimands or cautions.
Bench chairman Alwyn Lloyd Ellis said a full report was required before the court could continue to sentence.
“A detention and training order is very much in our minds and we require a full report before we proceed,” he said.
“We are keeping all our options open.”
Both youths were allowed bail until the next hearing.
