Llandudno,North Wales - Police patrols outside Ysgol Deganwy after attempted abduction of nine-year-old boy

Two men in a silver car told the schoolboy to get in their vehicle

Police patrols have been stepped up outside a primary school where two men attempted to abduct a nine-year-old boy.
Officers were deployed outside Ysgol Deganwy this morning after the pupil was approached by two men in a car yesterday morning as he walked to school.
The schoolboy was walking along Plas Newydd at around 8.50am when a silver car stopped and two men got out and told him to get in the vehicle.
He ignored the men’s request and went to school where he reported the incident to staff.
According to police no attempts were made to physically grab the boy nor did they pursue him and he was not harmed.
Inspector Kelly Isaacs at Llandudno Police Station has moved to reassure parents that “everything possible is being done” to track down the men.
She said: “This incident will understandably be of significant concern to the local community and particularly parents and other local schools.
“Enquiries are underway to establish the identity of the men and car and the pupil is being further interviewed by specialist officers to obtain a full description of the men and I would ask anyone who can assist to contact police immediately.
“In the meantime I’d like to personally reassure the community that everything possible is being done and increased patrols and a Police presence will continue particularly around school times.”
Anyone with information is urged to call North Wales Police on 101 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 and quote RC1700 7107.
