Mr Scholz said: "They had been at a club on the site and had stopped to buy a pizza on the way back to the caravan.
“The defendant struck up a conversation with the man. They had not met before but he offered them a lift back to their caravan which they accepted.
“During the short journey the vehicle struck a kerb and the man realised that the defendant had an open can of lager and had been drinking."
At that point the man asked Balmer to stop the car so they could get out and then an argument broke out.
Balmer, of Ledbury Street, Leigh, Lancashire then punched the man to the face and he fell to ground awkwardly breaking his leg in two places.
“The defendant continued to punch him in the face and the man’s daughter went to assist and was struck across the face,” Mr Scholz added. A site security guard approached but Balmer drove off at speed although he later returned to the scene.
Police and paramedics had been called and Balmer was arrested at the holiday park.

“Officers smelt alcohol on his breath and a roadside breath test was administered and he gave a reading of 77, more than twice the legal limit.
“He was abusive to officers on his way to custody and failed to provide a breath sample for evidential purposes,” Mr Scholz said.
The 28-year-old admitted a charge of assault causing grievous bodily harm and another of assault. He also admitted failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis.
Jailing Balmer for 12 months Judge Niclas Parry said: “This was a shocking attack on a father in the presence of his daughter. When she went to help him she was injured.”
Balmer was also disqualified from driving for 12 months.
Defence barrister Dafydd Roberts said Balmer was only in court because he had offered the family a lift.
“When he was accused of being drunk that angered him and he became argumentative.
“He accepts he acted unlawfully and is now remorseful,” he said.
Mr Roberts urged the court to draw back from an immediate prison term and impose a community penalty instead.
As he was led away to begin his sentence he waved at his partner who was in court to support him.
