Newport,South Wales - A drinker celebrating his 21st birthday stamped on a man's head but told police 'I haven't done anything wrong'

Luis Dixon attacked a fellow pub-goer during a night out and David Davies joined in, also stamping on the victim

A bike mechanic has been jailed after punching a man while out celebrating his 21st birthday.
Luis Dixon admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm following the incident at the The Talisman pub in Commercial Street in Newport on the evening of Friday, December 9.
When police officers showed the defendant CCTV footage of the incident he told them: “I’m a d***head – I want to say sorry to the guy.”
The court heard Dixon turned 21 on December 5 and went out to celebrate that weekend with family members.
Prosecutor Nuhu Gobir said during the evening a woman claimed David Kenny, who was also drinking in the pub, touched her inappropriately.
Later that night Mr Kenny went out for a cigarette and was the victim of an assault.
Mr Gobir said: “Quite a few of those outside were intoxicated and tempers were flaring.”
The incident was caught on CCTV, which showed Mr Kenny being pushed against a parked car and taking a swing at the woman he had allegedly groped earlier.
Prosecutors said he was taken to the ground by the group of people on the pavement before being punched by the defendant, who also stamped on his head.
A second defendant, David Davies then joined in, by stamping on the victim’s head twice before he was pulled away.

The court heard police arrived and Dixon told officers: “That guy down there, he hit a woman earlier so I hit him. I haven’t done anything wrong.”
Mr Gobir said: “When he was played the CCTV he broke down and cried.”
Dixon told officers: “I’m a d***head – I want to say sorry to the guy. I pretty much stamped on his face.
"I was really angry and I feel so ashamed of myself. I’m not a violent person.”

'Significant risk'

Mr Kenny was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital, where he was diagnosed with broken ribs, but could not have an X-ray due to “extreme” swelling.
He also suffered severe swelling to his face as well as bruising and grazing.
Dixon, from Broadway in Newport, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and breaching a suspended sentence.
He was committed to prison in August 2016 for six months, suspended for 18 months, for dangerous driving.
The court heard on that occasion he was driving a motorbike with no licence or insurance when he sped away from police, causing a chase and exceeding 70mph in a 30mph zone.
At Cardiff Crown Court for his latest offence he was jailed for 24 months and the judge told him: “You do not need me to tell you how you misbehaved on that night.”
Davies, 53, from Alexandra Road in Newport, admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The court heard he had 26 previous convictions, including nine for violence.
Davies refused to attend the hearing and was sentenced in his absence to 24 months in prison, with an extended sentence of five years.
The judge said: “The court is satisfied there is a significant risk to the public.”
