Cardiff,South Wales - Daughter denies murdering her father by starting a fire in a home in Cardiff

Emma Saddler, 27, denied charges of murder, manslaughter, and arson in connection with the blaze that killed father Robert, 59

A woman has denied killing her own father by starting a fire that tore through a Cardiff home in the early hours of the morning.
Emma Saddler pleaded not guilty to murder, manslaughter, and arson in connection with the fatal blaze that occurred in Rumney in January last year.
Her father Robert Saddler was 59 when he died following the fire.
Emergency services were called to the incident in Llanrumney Avenue around 4.30am on Sunday, January 10, 2016.
The deceased’s daughter was arrested on suspicion of murder and detained under the Mental Health Act before being transferred to a clinic in Brighton.
The 27-year-old appeared before Judge Eleri Rees at Cardiff Crown Court on Thursday.

She appeared via video link for her plea and trial preparation hearing, which lasted for about half an hour.
Prosecutor Peter Rouch QC confirmed a trial date had been set for March 13 with proceedings expected to last for about a fortnight.
Ms Saddler was represented at the hearing by defence barrister Sarah Taite.
