Two men fled empty handed after attempted robbery near Barclays Bank on Conwy Road
A woman bravely fought off two robbers who attacked her and tried to steal her belongings.
The victim, in her 30s, was approached by the two men as she walked along Conwy Road in Colwyn Bay close to Barclays bank at roughly 11am on Sunday.
She was not harmed in the assault but has been left "very shaken" according to police, who have launched an appeal to trace the men.
One of them, who is believed to be a teenager, made off on a mountain bike.
Detective Sergeant Chris Williams at St Asaph CID said: "At approximately 11am on Sunday 22 January a local woman in her 30s was walking along Conwy Road, Colwyn Bay when she was accosted by two men close to Barclays bank.
"They attempted to steal some belongings from her but she bravely fought them off and they fled the scene empty handed, one in the direction of the ‘west end’.
"An investigation is well underway and we are very keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and saw any suspicious men or behaviour particularly in the time leading up to the attack.
"The victim is fortunately physically unharmed but understandably very shaken and we are supporting her through this difficult time.
"From enquiries made so far we are interested in identifying two men.
"One was on a push bike and left the scene in the direction towards West End, Colwyn Bay.
"He is in his late teens, slim build wearing a black hooded top riding a mountain bike.
"The second man is described as scruffy and in his 50s or 60s.
"We want to speak to anyone who may have seen these men in the area of Barclays or Royal Bank of Scotland, Conwy Road prior to the incident or may have witnessed the incident and its aftermath."
Anyone with information is asked to contact North Wales Police on 101 quoting reference number RC17010026.
