Witnesses are being urged to contact police
Police are investigating after a primary school pupil was approached by two men who pulled over in a car.
The nine-year-old girl was walking to school when the incident happened in Haverfordwest at about 8am on Thursday.
Dyfed-Powys Police said there had been no attempt by the men, who were in a black car, to have any physical contact with her and she was not harmed. She then ran on to school and reported what had happened to school staff.
The incident happened when the girl was walking to Fenton School along Jury Lane from City Road in the town.
Parents and pupils have been told that it was an isolated incident.
“Expeditious and thorough inquiries are being carried out in respect of this suspicious incident and if anyone witnessed it, or anyone has any information, contact police by calling 101,” the Dyfed-Powys force said yesterday.
“We would reassure the public and parents that this is an isolated incident – but the school’s community police officer is at the school today and reminding pupils of personal safety lessons, and other schools have been made aware also as a precaution.”
Meanwhile, the force is also investigating a report that a man approached a young boy at the Glanceulan Estate in Penrhyncoch, Aberystwyth , last Saturday between 3pm and 3.45pm.
The boy was not hurt and did not engage in conversation with the man.
Officers attended the area immediately but the man was not located.
The man is described as being dressed in dark or black trainers, trousers and jacket and carrying a mobile phone.
Enquiries are continuing and police are carrying out extra patrols in the area.
PC Sarah Edwards said: “We’re carrying out enquiries to try to identify this man. I must emphasise that no one was hurt and that officers are doing everything we can to identify the person and to make sure the area remains safe.”
Anyone with information is urged to call 101
