Caernarfon,North Wales - 'Dangerous' Caernarfon paedophile jailed for sexually abusing five-year-old boy

Police say Kyle Martin John Parry, 21, who admitted the offence 'exploited one of the most vulnerable members of society, a child'

A man who sexually abused a five-year-old boy has been locked up for five years.
Kyle Martin John Parry, 21, formerly of Rhostryfan near Caernarfon but now of Riddings Road, Huddersfield, admitted the sexual assault charge shortly before a trial was due to start at Caernarfon Crown Court last month. Sentence was adjourned until today (January 26) for reports.
Jailing him Judge Huw Rees said the report prepared by Probation Service officers, made “harrowing reading”.
“I have no difficulty finding you are a danger to children and this qualifies for an extended sentence,” the judge said.
He extended Parry’s licence by four years following his release, which formally makes it a nine-year sentence.
A 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order prohibits Parry from unsupervised contact with any child under 16, disqualifies Parry from working with children and from contacting the boy’s family by any means.
Sion ap Mihangel, prosecuting, told the court how the boy had confided in his mother about what Parry had done to him. She called police and her son was subsequently examined by a doctor.
Mr ap Mihangel said Parry’s DNA was found on swabs taken at the scene of the offence and he was arrested.
Interviewed by detectives he refused to answer questions.

He summarised a Victim Personal Statement by the boy’s mother and said the offence had a “massive effect” on her son. She said he is due to have counselling which she hopes will help.
Defence barrister Owen Edwards said Parry recognised what he had done to the boy was serious.
“The effect of his actions are clearly significant and his plea reflects his best mitigation and contrition to a repulsive act,” he said.
Mr Edwards told the court Parry was anxious to take advantage of any assistance to curb his issues while in prison.
He asked the judge to take into account his age, the guilty plea albeit at a late stage and his lack of previous convictions.
After the trial Det Con Chris Arkell of North Wales Police ’s Child Protection Team said: “This kind of offence causes huge damage, not just to the child, but also to the wider family.
“Kyle Parry has exploited one of the most vulnerable members of society, a child, and his sentence today goes some way to address that.”
Last month Parry was cleared of raping a young girl by a jury following a three day trial at Caernarfon Crown Court. He was also found not guilty of sexually assaulting the girl.
