THREE men arrested for firearms and offensive weapon offences and assaults have appeared in court.
William Michael Smith, 44, Patryk Dziewiatkowski, 21, and Daniel Goodwin, 23, face charges of jointly conspiring to cause damage to a property.
Smith, of Langdale Avenue, and Dziewiatkowski, of Smithfield Road, are also accused of conspiring to commit arson between September 28 and October 1 in Ponciau and conspiring to commit GBH to an unknown person at Castle Road in Chirk on October 20.
Smith, who was represented by Paul Abrahams, faces additional charges of possessing offensive weapons – a knuckle duster, sawn-off shotgun and a samurai sword – in a public place.
Dziewiatkowski, also represented by Mr Abrahams, is accused of possessing an extendible baton in a public place.
The trio were arrested by North Wales Police’s Operation Scorpion team, which aims to crack down on serious and organised crime, last Wednesday.
Detective Inspector Arwyn Jones, who is leading the investigation, said: “Despite charges having been brought the investigation is still ongoing and further arrests are planned. I am also very keen to hear from anyone in the community who can assist our investigation as we continue to target those in our communities who cause the most harm.”
DI Jones added: “We have made great strides in reducing incidents of violence in the region and with help from the community and I’m sure we can continue to do so and make our streets safer.
“The investigation into serious and organised crime groups will continue and I’d ask that anyone with information regarding those they think involved then contact North Wales Police on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
“Alternatively, contact the control room direct via the new web live chat http://www.north-wales.police.uk/contact/chat-support.aspx.”
The three men were remanded in custody and are due to appear in Mold Crown Court on Friday.
