TRANSPORT police are hoping to speak to three men after a bike was stolen from a railwaystation.
The incident happened at Wrexham General station just before 7pm on Monday, October 5.
Investigating officer PC Neil James, of British Transport Police, said: “The victim, a 42-year-old man from Gwersyllt, secured his bike to the cycle racks at the station on Sunday, October 4, but when he returned the following day, he discovered it missing, along with the lock.
“The bike is a grey Carrera Subway hybrid bike that was worth around £300.”
Investigations so far have been unable to trace those responsible, but officers have managed to gather images of three men they believe will have information about the theft.
PC James added: “There are lots of things people can do to lessen their chances of becoming a victim of bike theft, like ensuring their property is adequately marked and secured, which makes it much easier to identify and therefore helps reduce the risk of theft.
“BTP officers regularly conduct cycle crime awareness surgeries at stations to offer crime prevention advice. We also undertake plain clothes and high profile operations to catch thieves in the act.
“Thieves should also be aware that most cycle racks are covered by CCTV, so it’s only a matter of time before we track them down.
“We are also working closely with cycle and second-hand shops and are monitoring online auction and advertising sites to make it more difficult for thieves to sell on stolen property.”
Anyone with information about the theft is urged to call British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40 or text 61016 quoting reference WSUB/B7 of 12/11/2015.
Alternatively, information can be passed on anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
