THE family of a man who died in Swansea city centre in the early hours of yesterday say he was the "warmest, kindest" man.
Police have launched a murder investigation after Jonny Thomas's death.
The 34-year-old was rushed to Morriston Hospital following an incident on Princess Way around 3am but died a short time later.
A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and was last night being questioned by detectives at Swansea Central Police Station.
The area where Mr Thomas was found was cordoned off throughout Sunday as forensic experts examined the scene.
Police were initially called to Princess Way following reports of a badly injured man.
Last night Mr Thomas's family were being comforted at their home in Mumbles.
They said: "Jonny was the warmest, kindest, life and soul of the party.
"He was loved so much and will be sorely missed by his mother Julie, father Rob, brother Nicky and beautiful girlfriend Sidonie.
"Our lives will never be the same."
Police have taken the unusual step of confirming that no weapons were involved, following rumours circulating on Sunday of a knife-attack.
A spokesman for South Wales Police said: "Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in Swansea city centre.

"A 34-year-old man was taken to Morriston Hospital by ambulance where he died a short time later.

"An investigation into the death is continuing and a 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is in custody at Swansea Central Police Station.
"Next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
"The area is currently cordoned off while scene examinations are carried out.
