A MOTHER and her two children have been verbally abused by a motorist in what police are describing as a hate crime.
The 34-year-old woman was driving along the Coast Road from Prestatyn to Rhyl with her two children, aged 10 and 2-years-old, at 2pm on October 27.
A man, driving a blue-coloured Land Rover Discovery, overtook them and became aggressive in his manner of driving by braking suddenly and swerving in the road.
He then stopped his vehicle, which caused the woman to also stop, got out of his vehicle and approached the passenger side of the car where the 10-year-old was sitting.
The man then punched the car window and attempted to open the car door, walked over to the driver’s side and was shouting before getting back into his vehicle and driving off towards the general direction of Prestatyn.
Although the car window did not smash, the woman and her children were unhurt but shocked by the incident.
PC 3131 Elin Lloyd Jones said: “We are treating the incident as a hate-related crime and we are appealing for any witnesses, or anybody who may have information that could assist the investigation to come forward.
“We know that there were other vehicles and people in the vicinity so I am appealing for those drivers and passengers to contact us.”
Anybody with information is asked to contact North Wales Police on 101, quoting reference number S164804. Alternatively contact can also be made via the live web chat http://www.north-wales.police.uk/contact/chat-support.aspx
