The Atlantic Star medal was stolen during a burglary on a farm house near Pyle
POLICE are appealing for information after a Second World War medal was stolen during a burglary.
The Atlantic Star — along with items of jewellery including rings and bracelets — was taken from a farm house near Pyle that is being renovated.
Officers are urging anyone with information about the incident — or anyone who is offered a similar medal for sale — to come forward.
Police say the burglary could have happened any time in the last three months, but has only recently been discovered and reported.
A South Wales Police spokesman said: "Police are appealing for information following a house burglary in the Port Talbot area.
"The incident happened at a property near Pyle and resulted in jewellery and a wartime medal being stolen.
"The building is currently under renovation and the burglary could have happened at any time over the past three months.
"Among the items stolen were a quantity of rings and bracelets as well as an Atlantic Star World War Two medal.
"Anyone with information about the burglary or the stolen items is asked to call police."
The Atlantic Star was awarded to sailors of the Royal Navy and Merchant Navy who served on the convoys that transported vital supplies across the Atlantic from the US to Britain under constant threat of attack from German U-boats.
