Officers say they are investigating to see if anything happened in toilets of Castle Hotel in town
Police say they are trying to establish whether an assault took place in a Caernarfon pub toilet.
Officers were seen outside the the Castle Hotel on the Maes on Saturday morning.
A spokeswoman for North Wales Police said initially that they were "investigating an assault in the male toilet area of the hotel between the evening of March 3 and into the early hours of March 4.”

The crime scene investigation unit was outside the pub for much of Saturday morning while investigations took place.
But today, the spokeswoman added: “We are still investigating the full circumstances of what has actually taken place”.
