Anglesey,North Wales - Dog owners warned over potentially fatal substance on island's beaches

Palm oil, which is toxic to dogs, has been washed up near Trearddur Bay

Dog owners on Anglesey have been warned after what is suspected to be palm oil washed up on a beach near Trearddur Bay.
The substance, often found in boulder-size chunks, is not dangerous to humans but is toxic and potentially fatal to dogs.
The chunks of oil smell of diesel and dogs can lick them before becoming seriously ill.
The high toxin count has damaging effects on the dog's health and leads to vomiting and diarrhoea.
Possible that palm oil has been washed up on Porth-y-Castell beach, . This can be toxic to dogs. Please be aware.@NatResWales
It is believed the recent storms and severe weather may have caused a shipwreck off the coast to move, which may have dislodged some of the substance.
Further investigations at the scene are expected by Natural Resources Wales.
