The Tesco store in Wrexham is arranging an amnesty in hopes that locals will return thousands of stolen supermarket trolleys without fear of being prosecuted. The store claims to be missing a whopping 3,400 trolleys, each worth approximately £300.
It’s believed many are taken by local residents, likely those who shop in pajamas, who can’t be bothered carrying shopping home or ordering a taxi.
Tesco claim that they had to arrange the amnesty after realising they only had four trolleys left, one of which has a wonky wheel.
Caia Park resident Emma Clark plans to return two of the trolleys she has in her front garden. She said: “I’m not the type to bring my shopping home in a trolley like some lazy people do. I only stole these because I was the only one in the street without a trolley turned on its side on my front lawn. I just felt left out”.
Tesco store manager Richard Parry is overseeing the amnesty, which is the first of its kind in the UK. “People will be able to return their stolen trolleys without fear of prosecution”, he explained. “It’s also important to remember that nobody will be judging you.
“Not openly anyway. On the inside I’m judging you to hell, you lazy little no marks”.
