The disgusting vandals caused damage worth hundreds of pounds after breaking in to Ysgol Borthyn in Ruthin over the Christmas holidays
Disgusting yobs urinated on children’s toys after breaking into a school to drink alcohol over the Christmas holidays.
The vandals caused damage worth hundreds of pounds at Ysgol Borthyn in Ruthin, but the local community has since come forward to offer donations, said headteacher Teleri Jones.
Teachers found the damage when they returned to the school after the Christmas break. Empty vodka bottles had been left in a play area for children aged from two to five, and toys were covered in stale urine.
Ms Jones said: “They broke some benches, were drinking in a Wendy house and urinated there. That is what is really disappointing, because it’s just so disrespectful.
“It’s terrible for the children, but what has been great has been how the whole community has rallied around. We have had so many offers of toys and donations.”
Ruthin town councillor Anne Roberts, who lives near the school, said: “I am appalled by the incident. The school and the parents work so hard to provide for the children in their care.
“I have emailed the local inspector with my concerns as the rear of the school backs on to my garden.
“It is a regular meeting place for some young people obviously up to no good, and I have asked for regular patrols.
“I would also urge Denbighshire council to provide security cameras at the rear of the building to try to combat this anti-social behaviour.”
Geraint Woolford, the town’s mayor, said: “I am absolutely disgusted by what these people have done.
“This was an act of wanton destruction without any regard for the children of the school.
“I would implore local residents to come forward with any information which may identify the perpetrators so that they can be dealt with by the authorities.
“This type of behaviour cannot and will not be tolerated.”
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting reference number RC17001590.
