Darren Imra Kidd decided to weigh into a long-running dispute on behalf of his landlord, which saw him lash his victim with a dog lead
A boxer with a string of convictions under his belt was locked up after viciously beating a neighbour.
Darren Imra Kidd decided to weigh into a long-standing dispute between his landlord and neighbour Matthew Adams and his partner.
Police had been called to deal with the latest incident in the ongoing row between the pair, which saw landlord Michael Jones, 61, arrested.
Mold crown court heard how the row had erupted over Mr Jones repeatedly causing problems for the neighbours by shouting - which he claimed was in his sleep.
Kidd stood outside his house, shouting as police who had arrested Mr Jones took a statement from Mr Adams.
Officers moved him on, but later on Kidd, 48, came back and began hurling abuse. Mr Adams tried to defend his partner Valerie Tattum and another man tried to drag Kidd away into a car.
Kidd came back again, swinging a dog lead, which struck Mr Adams on the right eye.
He then bust his nose with a punch, before a scuffle broke out.
Mr Adams was left with swelling to the cheek, chipped teeth, a loss of feeling to the jaw and concussion after the June attack, which left him in hospital.
He suffered a fractured ankle in the fall, and Kidd himself hit his head on a wall and was dazed and bleeding heavily.
Kidd denied any assault, and claimed he’d acted in self-defence during the incident near his home in Penyglyn, Bagillt .
But Judge Niclas Parry said he had “abused his skills” as a boxer in attacking his victim, and slammed his “appalling” criminal record including convictions for robbery, burglary and three other violence raps.
“By your own admission you are a boxer”, he told him, jailing him for 18 months. “You abused those skills to inflict additional harm by punching, causing a nasty facial injury.”
