'Altercation' in late afternoon
Police were called to Wellington Road at roughly 9pm but have appealed for any witnesses to an ‘altercation’ earlier in the day to come forward.
Detective Inspector Arwyn Jones said:
“We continue to appeal to anyone who may have seen or heard an altercation involving a man and woman in the Bryn Heulog/Wellington Road areas or in Old Colwyn town centre, between late afternoon and approximately 9pm, to come forward.”

Post mortem not completed
I am told the post mortem has not been completed on David Kingsbury. It has been reported, but it is unconfirmed, that he died of stab wounds.

What we know so far
Here’s what we know about the murder investigation in Old Colwyn:
- A man was found lying in the street in the Wellington Road area at about 9pm following reports of a ‘disturbance’.
- Paramedics attempted CPR but the man was declared dead.
- A woman was arrested near to the scene and remains in police custody.
- The man has been named as David James Kingsbury, 35. He was known locally as “Divs”.
- Investigations at the scene continue.

“HM Coroner is being informed and a post mortem examination will take place in due course.“I appeal to anyone who may have seen or heard a male and female engaged in an altercation either with each other, or with anyone else, in the areas mentioned or in the Old Colwyn town centre.“The time period would have been late afternoon to approximately 9pm.”
