53-year-old was sleeping in makeshift shelter in an underpass next to The Castle pub
A homeless man who was stabbed as he slept rough in an underpass in Bangor has left hospital... but is back on the street, the Daily Post understands.
The 53-year-old man had been sleeping in a dirty underpass between the Castle pub and Euro car park when he was attacked.
The Daily Post understands the man had been spotted in Caernarfon after being released from hospital, but that he needed further medical treatment to his wounds at some time on Friday.
The make-shift home where had been staying in Bangor already has another rough sleeper in it, Raymond Burton who used to live in a cave on the Great Orme at Llandudno.
The underpass is filthy and filled with rubbish, with members of the public walking through regularly to go into the city centre.
The area is prone to homeless people sleeping rough due to the protection from the weather and air conditioning vents which can keep it warm.
Staff at the Castle pub have been working with police as they investigate the attack.
The stabbing happened at around 11.40pm on Thursday, police said.
Roberts appeared at Llandudno magistrates court on Saturday morning and was remanded to prison until another court appearance in February.
DC 3006 Jade Light of Caernarfon CID said: "I must stress that incidents of this nature are extremely rare in Bangor but when they do occur the investigations are detailed and extensive.
"If you witnessed this incident or have any information please contact Police on 101 or call crime stoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 , quoting reference RC17002281."
Matthew Roberts, 26, was arrested on suspicion of wounding and possession of a knife following the assault and on Saturday at Llandudno magistrates court was remanded in custody until February.
