POLICE are investigating what they say is a serious assault on a 50-year-old woman in Hafod.
Officers were called to the scene on Neath Road this morning and police say they have arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with the incident.
An area of the road was taped off and a large number of officers present.
A spokesman for South Wales Police said they had been called to the scene at around 6am.
"Police are investigating a serious assault in the Hafod area of Swansea which happened shortly before 6am this morning," said the spokesman.
"An area of Neath Road has been cordoned off and officers remain in the area.
"The victim in the incident is a 50-year-old woman.
"A 22-year-old man has been arrested and is currently in custody."

Gaynor Omar who runs a nearby laundrette business, said: "I came to work this morning and there was a huge amount of police activity just a few doors down.
"Nobody has been told much. It seems a woman may have been attacked."
