Almost £1,600 was spent repairing a police car used to deliberately run over and kill a dog on the A55.
There was widespread outrage after the foxhound was mowed down in the middle of the night after it got loose on the expressway.
Now a Freedom of Information request has shown North Wales Police spent £1561.48 fixing the vehicle, but it was not revealed what parts were damaged.
Christopher John, who says he is a supporter of the police, put in the request online after the incident in February.
He asked: “Can you please provide me with the costs of repairing your Roads Policing Unit vehicle that was used to destroy a loose dog on the A55 this week?”
Following a delay the force responded with the cost of £1561.48.
Police have said the dog bit one of the officers who tried to approach it before a decision was made to run it over.
A spokesman for NWP said the dog had “posed a serious threat to motorists” and the only safe option was to kill it.
While facing a media backlash the force tracked down the owner of the animal and said that they agreed with the decision to kill the dog.
The force referred themselves to the Independent Police Complaints Commission whoadvised they should investigate themselves internally.
The investigation includes representatives from the RSPCA, the veterinary profession and a roads policing specialist from a separate police force, and that process is still ongoing.
A petition set up online to get “justice for the A55 dog” has gathered more than 8,000 signatures.
Josh White started the petition on website change.org and it has attracted support from across the United Kingdom.
Mr White said he wants the officers “prosecuted to the full extent of the law” and adds: “There are other ways the situation could have been solved”.
