A MAN who hurled wraps of heroin out of the window as police raided his home has been jailed for five years.
Jamie Walker, 42, admitted possessing the class A drug but claimed it was all for his own use.
But a jury at Mold Crown Court rejected his story and convicted him of possessing heroin with intent to supply to others.
Walker, of Cheshire View in Brymbo, who had a previous conviction for conspiring to supply drugs, was jailed for five years.
Judge Merfyn Hughes QC told Walker he was a penniless heroin addict. He had been asked to sell drugs for profit and used his own share to fund his addiction.
Heroin caused significant harm in the community, the judge told the court on Thursday.
Walker’s previous convictions for conspiring to supply drugs had made matters worse for him.
Prosecutor Emmalyne Downing said Walker was arrested in May last year after police executed a warrant at his then home address in Wrexham area.
“He was in the process of throwing bags of heroin out of the living room window,” said Ms Downing.
Officers found 15 wraps of heroin on the ground outside. A further two were stuck to the outside of the building.
There was a total of 141 miligrammes of heroin which the prosecution suggested in view of the amount would have been supplied to others.
Ceri Evans, defending, said there was no dispute her client was in possession of the heroin. He accepted that and had admitted that offence.
The only issue was whether he intended to supply them.
It was Walker’s case he was a heavy user and would have used the heroin himself.
