Wrexham,North Wales - Trial set for Wrexham man accused of cutting dog's ears off

A Wrexham man is to go on trial accused of cutting a Staffordshire bull terrier’s ears off.
Christopher Matthew Griffiths, appeared at Wrexham Magistrates this morning to face two charges of cutting off the ears of a tan male Staffie named Victor and one charge of kicking the dog.
He has pleaded not guilty to the offences which were alleged to have happened on September 22 last year at Crescent Close, Crescent Road, Wrexham.
The three charges come under the category of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal in the Animal Welfare Act 2006.

Dressed in black tracksuit bottoms and a dark top, Griffiths, 34, of Bridge Street, Southsea, Wrexham, stood to confirm has name, age and address, for the short hearing.
Magistrates have fixed a trial date of Thursday, May 26, at the Wrexham court to hear the case.
He was granted unconditional bail.
