A homeless woman begged a Good Samaritan to help her - but attacked and robbed him after he took pity on her during a night out in Cardiff

Kindhearted Simon Bishop, 22, bought Charlene Jones, 26, a sandwich and handed her a £10 gift after she told him it was her birthday.

But she then lured him back to her squat where she and her boyfriend Neil Osborne, 34, brutally attacked him.

A court heard the pair punched, kicked and headbutted railway worker Mr Bishop, before taking him to a cashpoint and making him withdraw £200.

Prosecutor Nicholas Jones said Mr Bishop was marched straight past his friends as he made his way to the cashpoint with the pair - but they couldn't recognise him because of the state of his face.

Jones and Osborne then left their victim slumped in the street in Cathays, Cardiff where he was eventually found by his friends.

Injuries were "ghastly"
