THOUSANDS of remembrance poppies were destroyed by vandals in Caernarfon.
Police are appealing for witnesses after the incident sometime between last week and 10.45am on Wednesday.
The offenders gained entry to a storage facility on Skinner Street and damaged huge numbers of remembrance poppies worth thousands of pounds.
All the poppies are now unusable and have been disposed of.
Sergeant Rhys Gough said: “We are appealing to anybody who may have witnessed suspicious behaviour in or around Skinner Street overnight to contact us.
“This was a despicable crime whereby the poppies were destroyed in a pure act of vandalism.
“Nothing was stolen from the facility which means the offender(s) have done this purely out of malice.”
Anybody with information is asked to contact officers at Caernarfon Police Station on 101, quoting reference number U060120.
