More than 10 people called 999 to report a mountain fire the size of 10 rugby fields in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The fire was fuelled by high winds and took firefighters an hour to put out
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service were called to the wildfire, thought to have been caused deliberately, at a mountain in Pentrebach, Merthyr Tydfil , at around 12.42am.
Crews from Merthyr responded to the call and on arrival requested extra support from Merthyr Station to help tackle the "well-alight wildfire".
The blaze involved 10 hectares of mountainside, around the equivalent of 10 international rugby fields, and was fuelled by high winds.
A spokeswoman for the fire service said crews fought the fire for an hour and determined the cause as "deliberate ignition".
