A COCAINE-using drink-driver who sped off in a car at up to 130mph to escape police was jailed for eight months.
Sean Williams, aged 27, had crashed through roadwork cones into a closed lane on the A55 dual carriageway in North Wales.
He went the wrong way around a roundabout, and he and a passenger leapt from the Mazda as it was still moving before the car crashed into a hedge, Caernarfon crown court heard.
Prosecutors said a Taser stun-gun was used to detain the plasterer, of Min y Coed, Bangor, who admitted dangerous driving, possessing a drug, failing to stop for and resisting police, and drink and drug driving him.
Judge Gaynor Lloyd told Williams: ”It’s an utter fluke no-one was injured by your actions and more damage wasn’t caused.”
A three-year ban with an extended test was ordered.
The judge described it as “appalling” driving by a man who called himself a binge-drinker.
“This driving is a worrying escalation in your offending behaviour,” she said to Williams.
Judge Lloyd said he had four drink-driving offences on his record.
“By your own admission, on January 11 you were coming to the end of a three-day drink and drugs binge which you say was your first for some time," she said.
"You were in no fit condition to drive."
He had driven erratically and at more than 100mph in a 40mph limit at roadworks as he headed from Llandudno towards Bangor.
Prosecutor Jade Tufail said officers in an unmarked police car first saw him late at night on the A470 at Llandudno and pursued the Mazda 3.
After being held, Williams said he had panicked when he noticed the police.
Gareth Roberts, defending, said Williams knew his driving was “dreadful” and was ashamed.
In 2011 he had decided to stop drinking, then built a successful business, and was due to marry in June.
But Williams “went off the rails” because of an issue in his personal life
