A man causing trouble in a pub who was later found to be carrying a ‘throwing knife’ has been jailed.
Paul Sherwood was kicked out of the Cayley Arms in Rhos-on-Sea before he came back and kicked the door in.
Police were called and he ran off. But while they were chasing him the knife fell from his pocket.
When he was interviewed by police he said he had it for his own protection.
The knife - which has no handle - was described as a throwing knife. The judge at Mold Crown Court said he had “never seen a knife like this before”.
Sherwood, 21, of Bryn Eglwys, Rhos-on-Sea, said it was the first time he’d taken the knife out in public.
His defence barrister said when he had not brandished the knife at all during the March 20 incident.
But the judge said the situation was aggravated by the fact that he was drunk at the time and wouldn’t have been in full control.
Sherwood, who has a previous conviction for robbery, was jailed for 30 months.
