Snowdonia,Blaenau Ffestiniog,North Wales - This CCTV caught Blaenau Ffestiniog vandal red-handed...so why didn't police prosecute?

A man scraped a screwdriver along three cars in Glynllifon Road in the early hours of the morning

The moment a man on his way back from the pub scraped a screwdriver along the side of a car, causing hundreds of pounds of damage.
Dafydd Jones, who lives on Glynllifon Road in Blaenau Ffestiniog , caught the man red-handed scratching his car thanks to CCTV outside.
The reveller had left the Meirion Pub shortly after midnight on February 26, and mindlessly scratched three cars in a row, including Mr Jones’ Golf TDI.
Thanks to Mr Jones’ CCTV footage, police were able to trace the man and arrest him.
He was released with a conditional caution - an agreement between him, the police and the Crown Prosecution Service that no prosecution will follow if certain conditions are adhered to.

North Wales Police refused to reveal the conditions.
The decision has left Mr Jones facing a tough battle to recoup the money for repairs, which runs into hundreds of pounds.
Mr Jones said: “You can see him scratch all three of the cars.
“When I saw the damage the next day, I went into my CCTV and I could see him.
“I got the police involved but now I totally regret that.

“Now that he has been given a conditional caution, my only option to try and recover costs is civil court, which will involve driving to Liverpool.
“I wish I had never got the police involved. It’s going to be a nightmare now and an expensive one.
“There has been significant damage caused. I am nearly £1,000 out of pocket."

"It’s just a slap on the wrist isn’t it?”

Mr Jones said he would not be helping the police again if they wanted to use his CCTV.
He said: “He has got away with paying peanuts and I am the victim, along with the other car owners.
“To let him off with a conditional caution, well, it’s just a slap on the wrist, isn’t it?”
A spokeswoman for North Wales Police said: “The matter has now concluded and we have nothing further to add.”
