Frightened neighbours on Caia Park watch as one vehicle was destroyed and another damaged by firebugs

A terrified neighbour told how a car exploded twice after as it was set on fire in an early morning attack on an estate which has been plagued by arson.
One car was wrecked and another damaged after flames spread to it following the incident on St Giles Crescent, Caia Park, Wrexham , at 2.42am today.
Neighbours said a member of the public hammered on doors to warn them as the flames took hold of the vehicles just outside their homes.
Kim Powell said: “It was about 2.30am, a lad came over who was out walking his dog and knocked on our doors. He risked himself to warn us.
“You could see one car was in flames and it had spread to another car.
“There were two loud bangs from the silver car, which was exploding. It was horrible to see.
“A little seven year-old lad from the house where the cars had been set on fire came to stay with me while it was sorted out.

“He was upset and my little ones couldn’t sleep after.”
Another neighbour, Jennifer Clutton, said: “We received a knock to tell us there were a couple of cars on fire and telling us to move our cars.
“We have only just moved here from Pentre Gwyn on the estate which was 10 times worse.”
Another neighbour said this was the first time she had seen an arson attack on St Giles Crescent.
The wrecked car was towed away this morning, but the other damaged car, a red Vauxhall Astra, was still there.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service chiefs said the fire caused 80% damage to the vehicle targeted and minor damage to the rear of the other.
They also repeated warnings about the dangers of setting deliberate fires.
Kevin Jones, arson reduction manager for North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “This is a serious issue. Not only is it extremely upsetting for the owners of the vehicles damaged, but it could potentially be life-threatening.
“Deliberate fires are a serious form of anti-social behaviour with potentially lethal consequences.”
It is the latest in a string of vehicle arson attacks across Caia Park and Wrexham.
Other areas where vehicles have been targeted this year are Brynteg , Hightown andSontley Road .
Police confirmed they are investigating.
Anybody with information on the arson attack is asked to call North Wales Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
