CCTV footage shows the moment a car pulls up and a masked man gets out to burgle an elderly woman’s home in Buckley.
The brazen burglar ending up fleeing empty-handed from the property in Bryn Awelon,Buckley, after being disturbed by the homeowner.
The video, captured by a neighbour living in the nearby street The Brackens, shows a silver car pull up at the side of the house at 8.55pm last night (April 3).
Two men can be seen getting out and it is understood one of them, who was wearing a balaclava, broke into the property by smashing a back window.
It is not clear what the second man was doing during this period, while it is thought a third person was waiting in the car ready for the escape.
Neighbour Chris Hayes believes the burglary must have been pre-planned.
He told the Daily Post: “They didn’t stop here to even look. They stopped right in front of the house.
“What shocked me the most was the time of the day. They weren’t being quiet – they just went for it.”
A North Wales Police spokeswoman said: “Police received a call shortly after 9pm last night reporting a burglary at an address in Bryn Awelon, Buckley.
“The offender had entered the property via a rear window and he left empty-handed when he was disturbed.
“The man, who was wearing a balaclava over his face is described as having an Eastern European accent. He is believed to have left the area in a silver estate type car."
She added: “Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have seen someone acting in a suspicious manner in the area is asked to call PC 2735 Abigail O’Hara at Mold Police Station on 101, quoting reference U047780.
“Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or contact the control room direct via the new web live chat facility.”
