Officers from Morriston CID's specialist sexual offences unit praised the courage of the victim in coming forward, and in going through the difficult process of giving evidence in a trial.
The court heard the teenager had been known to police, social services and child welfare charities, and had spent time in the care system — she was considered "at risk" of being sexually exploited.
'Young, vulnerable young woman'
On the night of the offence in 2015 the girl and her friend were picked up in a car by an associate of Aziz, and driven to the defendant's house in the centre of Swansea.
The youngsters were introduced to Aziz, who then plied them with whisky and vodka until they were drunk. When the victim went to another room to be sick he followed her and raped her.
The court heard the girl managed to flee the Walter Road property and raise the alarm.
Aziz, of Walter Road, was traced by police through a DNA sample.
The 35-year-old denied rape but was found guilty after trial, and sentenced to seven-and-a-half years.
South Wales Police detective constable Andy Williams said officers had worked closely with councils' child services throughout the investigation, and had provided support to the teenager.
He said: "The victim in the case was a young, vulnerable young woman, who had been in the care system and subject to concerns for many years around child sexual exploitation.
"Despite these challenges she had the strength and courage to support the police prosecution and gave evidence to the court of her harrowing and traumatic experience.
"She was supported throughout by specialist officers from Morriston CID, who continue to work tirelessly for victims of rape and target and pursue individuals who exploit the most vulnerable persons within our society."
No charges were brought against the man who drove the girls to Aziz's house.
