Lukasz Robert Pawlowski was appearing at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court for sentencing
A defendant has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after slitting his throat.
Lukasz Robert Pawlowski, 33, who was due to be sentenced for sexual assault was in the dock when it happened.
The 33-year-old, from Pembroke Dock, had asked to go to the toilet and when he came back he started muttering to himself before slashing at his throat.
He had previously pleaded guilty to sexual assault by grabbing and kissing a shop assistant
A reporter for the Western Telegraph newspaper was in the court at the time and saw the incident and described seeing a lot of blood.
Pawlowski has been airlifted to Morriston Hospital in Swansea after two ambulances and the air ambulance were called to the scene.
'He started slashing at his throat'
A Western Telegraph reporter in the court saw the incident and wrote: "He came into the dock, then asked to go to the toilet.
"He went out, came back, muttered something then started slashing at his throat.
"The court room was then cleared out, and first aid was given by paramedics in the dock."
The reporter did not see what weapon was used.
It is unclear where and how Pawlowski gained access to the weapon.
They added: "I'm not sure if he lost consciousness but he did lose a lot of blood."

No injuries to anyone else
An HM Courts and Tribunal Spokesperson said: “A man has been taken to hospital following an incident at Haverford Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 11 January.
“There were no injuries to staff or other court users. There is an ongoing police investigation so it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.”
How did a weapon get into court?
Questions are being asked about how the defendant managed to get a weapon into court. The court complex has airport-style security scanners and guards in place at both entrances.

His offence was seen CCTV
The groping incident was captured on CCTV and Pawlowski was arrested two days later.
He told police he had kissed her, but it was a question of ‘mixed messages’ as he thought he had her consent.
The court had previously been told Pawloski tried to kiss the woman on the lips
After she declined Pawlowski was accused of leaning towards her, grabbed her wrists and kissed her on the cheek, then walked off into the store.
Pawlowski later grabbed her from behind while she carried cans of lager across the store.
Alex Scott, prosecuting, said: “He pulled her backwards and proceeded to kiss her on the lips.
“She went back to the counter and told him he had no right to do that.”
Pawlowski had groped a shop worker
Pawlowski, of Bush Street, Pembroke Dock, West Wales, pleaded guilty to sexual assault in December and was due to be sentenced today.
He had been banned from entering the shop, which cannot be named, after groping the woman worker in October.
The court earlier heard Pawlowski gestured to the woman to kiss him when he walked into the shop where she worked on October 30.
