Kevin Jones, 48, was arrested by police following a raid at his property in June this year

A 48-year-old man who admitted downloading indecent images of children has been spared a jail term.
Police raided Kevin Jones’ house in Bro Rhythallt, Llanrug in June this year and seized two laptops and a phone for examination by experts.
More than 2,000 indecent images were found with 90 of them described as Category A, defined as the most extreme images.
Prosecutor Diane Williams added 11 images were described as prohibited images of children.
Arrested at his workplace Ms Williams said Jones told officers they might find indecent images of children on the computers.
“He asked officers what might happen to him and said he had just been downloading images and had not involved any children,” she said.
He faced six charges of making and possessing indecent images of children between November last year and June 2016. Jones admitted the offences at a hearing at CaernarfonMagistrates Court earlier this month.
Sentence had been adjourned for reports.

Warning

Sentencing bench chairman Alwyn Lloyd Ellis said: “We have taken your early guilty pleas and your lack of previous convictions into consideration but our guidelines are very clear.
“The sentence must be an immediate custodial sentence unless there is a viable alternative.”
Imposing a three year community order Mr Ellis said he must comply with the requirements of the Probation Service to attend courses as directed.
“Such an order is not easy and I must warn you if you breach the order in any way you will be returned to court and you will be going to prison,” he said.
Jones was also made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and his details must remain on the Sex Offenders Register for five years.
He was also ordered to pay £170 costs and forfeit both laptop computers and a mobile phone.
Sion Wyn Hughes, defending, had urged the court to adopt the recommendations of the pre-sentence report stressing his client’s guilty plea.
At the conclusion of the hearing two women, who had been in the court's public gallery, came forward and made abusive comments towards Jones.
They were ordered to leave the court building by Mr Ellis and were escorted out by security guards.
