A model has been jailed for trying to run over a love rival in his gold car.
Model Rommel Alleyne, 25, flew into a rage after spotting the man hand in hand with a former girlfriend.
Alleyne - known as ‘Rome’ - swerved his customised gold Peugeot at Thomas Church who was walking at night at Cwmbran with his ex-lover.
The court heard Mr Church leapt our of the way of the car but Alleyne jumped out to confront him in the street.
Jason Howells, prosecuting at Cardiff Crown Court , said: “The two men then entered into a fight.
“Alleyne was punched to the floor three times but got back up each time. He got into his car and drove off at speed.”
He parked in a nearby B&Q car park in Cwmbran to wait with a metal pole for Mr Church to walk by.
Alleyne, who is also a rapper whose music videos have been viewed thousands of times, then hit him across the head with the pole before fleeing in his car.
Mr Church was take to the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport where a 3cm wound to his head needed gluing together.
Alleyne, of Cwmbran, pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding and possession of a controlled drug after being found with cannabis.
Hugh Wallace, defending, said Alleyne had “changed his ways” after learning his girlfriend is due to give birth to his second child in December.
Judge Thomas Crowther said Alleyne had swerved at his love rival before waiting to attack him with his weapon.
Sentencing him to two years in prison, Judge Crowther said: “You approached the couple in your car and swerved towards them.
“There was then a fight which you comprehensively lost.”
