A pub considered an important part of Bangor's culture and history has closed its doors.
Yr Hen Glan, affectionately known by students and regulars down the years as the Yellow Pub has been sold by its owners – who also have neighbouring Yates’ in the city.
A spokesperson for Stonegate said: "We have sold this property to a local investor".
The pub became a 'hub' for young adults in the 1960s and early 1970s and gained a reputation as a favoured watering hole for many of the top rock and pop stars of the era when they played at Bangor University.
It is not yet known what the venue will be used for.
Mark Roberts, who lives a few doors down from the pub, recalled his memories of Yr Hen Glan.
“I saw Queen there when they were young university students themselves," he said. "I saw Fleetwood Mac too. It was quite common to see students and top stars jamming until the early hours of the morning.
“I remember one Saturday night, chatting to a chap at the bar who looked familiar but I couldn’t place him. It dawned on me later it was the clarinettist Acker Bilk, famous for ‘Stranger on the Shore’ but without his trademark bowler hat. He was just an ordinary guy enjoying a beer.”
Mr Roberts believes the pub may be turned into student accommodation and has written to the council to object.
“Flats are not suitable for that area and I have asked the council to be consulted throughout over the plans,” he said.

He added: "Yr Hen Glan closing is quite sad for me. I watched Wales v South Africa there in 2014 when Wales beat South Africa and it left the city of Bangor bouncing.
”It’s also where considered becoming a councillor, which has brought me to where I am now. The pub is a part of Bangor’s culture. Logistically I don’t think it’s right for student accommodation. The space is too limited.
“The location is ideal, opposite Pontio and Storiel to turn it into something special that will represent Bangor to tourists and residents alike.”
