Cardiff,South Wales - 'I won't let them beat me' Shop worker tells of fear as store targeted by masked robbers

Police are hunting for two men who targeted a Spar in Cardiff over the weekend

A shop worker said she was left frozen with fear after her store was targeted by two masked robbers.
Two men in masks entered Spar, in Gabalfa Avenue, Cardiff , at around 8.45pm on Sunday, demanding money from the till.
One of the men said he had a gun, and had his hand in his jacket.
They were unable to get in to the till, but the two men jumped over the counter and ran off with a couple of bottles of vodka.
Supervisor Nicola Dickinson, 41, was in the office at the back of the store at the time of the robbery and said she had been terrified.

'They wanted to go in the till'

The mum of two said: “I was in the office sorting out papers when I heard the bell ringing from the till.
“As soon as I went out I saw two guys wearing masks and I just froze.
“They wanted to go in the till so I went to go and get the keys.
“When I went back I saw one of them jump over the till and take two or three big bottles of vodka and run off.”

The two robbers were both male.
One is described as being white, with a slim build and wearing a grey woolly hat pulled over his face with eye-holes cut out, and a dark jacket and bottoms.
The other man was described by South Wales Police as having a “larger ‘fat’ build”, and in his forties.
He was wearing sandals, shorts and a dark jacket.

He also had on one yellow washing-up glove.
The thieves took around £25 worth of vodka.
Ms Dickinson said the incident frightened her.
She said: “This morning I wasn’t very into my job. It left me very scared.
“We’ve never had anything like this in the past.
“I already suffer from anxiety and I’ve had to take more tablets.”

Despite that, Nicola said she won’t let them win.
She said: “I won’t let them beat me.”
South Wales Police Detective Inspector Lloyd Williams said: “The threats made to the shopkeeper [imply] that one man may have been armed with a firearm, but no weapon was seen so we believe that probably isn’t the case.
“We would like to speak to anybody who may have noticed two people acting suspiciously or who has information about the incident to contact us.”
