This CCTV shows footage of a man police want to speak to regarding two incidents at a Cardiff jewellery shop
Police want to speak to a man after jewellery was stolen from a Cardiff shop.
South Wales Police are investigating two incidents of theft at the Clive Ranger store in Castle Arcade on September 28 and 29.
CCTV of the second incident shows a man entering the shop and appearing to throw something at store manager Jessica Fisher.
Ms Fisher, 28, said diamond earrings worth £14,000 were taken during the first incident.
Speaking about the second incident, she said: “A guy came in and asked if he could look at an item that was locked away. I said yes and while I was getting the key he grabbed a tray of sample rings. I tried to stop him and he threatened to throw it at me. I think he realised then he wouldn’t have the rings so he just ran.
“Luckily there was a guy in the opticians opposite who saw it and called the police. I wouldn’t normally have been working alone but the owner was stuck in traffic and someone was off sick.
“Another person chased him on a bike through Bute Park but he jumped over a fence and managed to get away. It was only when we went through the footage we realised the earrings (from the first incident) were missing.”
Police released images of a man they want to speak to in connection with the two thefts.
He is described as being approximately 5ft 10, and speaks with a strong Cardiff accent.
At the time of the incidents he was carrying a black rucksack.
Anyone with information should call police on 101 quoting reference number 375421 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
