Yobs who try to break into homes, shout abuse and ring doorbells in the middle of the night are making life a misery for the elderly tenants of a block of flats.
Terrorised residents at Tre Gôf on Wesley Street in Caernarfon are living in constant fear due to the anti-social behaviour of some young men, says councillor Roy Owen.
He said the problem has been made worse by mixing younger and older people in the flats.
Cartrefi Cymunedol Gwynedd (CCG), the housing association responsible for the flats, said that it has invested “considerable resources” at Tre Gôf in the last three years, including installing CCTV in all blocks.
Cllr Owen said: “I’ve received a number of complaints regarding the anti-social behaviour problems at the Tre Gof flats.
“Residents say young men climb over walls from Garnon Street onto the roof of the flats and try to get in through the windows there.
“Some residents are also complaining of constant doorbells being rung late at night and during the early hours of the morning.
“They say the young people also shout at them.”
The councillor said the matter has been reported to the police.
“The flats used to be for just elderly tenants but, since CCG started introducing younger tenants in 2013, it does create problems with them mixing together,” he said.
“I met with a few residents last week to discuss the problem.”
A spokesperson for CCG said: “In the last three years, we have invested considerable resources at Tre Gof, including installing CCTV in all blocks of flats.
“Two wardens are on site on a regular basis, one of which works full time at Tre’r Gof and Pendalar.
“Tenants and residents are encouraged to raise any concerns with them.
“CCG also provides a valuable antisocial behaviour service.
“Anyone who has concerns can contact us on 0300 123 8084 so we can investigate and deal with issues raised.”
Witnesses to anti-social behaviour can also call North Wales Police on 101.
