The former partner of a young mother has admitted murdering her.
David Nicholas Davies killed Emma Baum on July 18. She was found dead in the back garden of her home.
At Mold Crown Court today, Davies, of Penrhiw Terrace, Clynnog, near Caernarfon , pleaded guilty to her murder.
The 25-year-old did not accept the full prosecution case against him and there will be a hearing in November to try some of the allegations against him .
He denies using a knife and doesn't accept the prosecution claim he took the murder weapon with him to 22-year-old Emma's house in Penygroes.
She died as a result of severe head injuries.
Following his guilty plea today prosecuting barrister Simon Mills outlined the outstanding issues between the prosecution and defence.
He said the first was his previous conduct towards her – the prosecution alleged that he had previously used violence towards her and had made threats and remarks about killing her in the past.
The second issue was the purpose of the defendant’s trip to her home address that night and whether he carried a weapon to the scene.
“The court may also wish to consider the defendant’s actions during this fatal assault – whether he intended to kill her as opposed to causing serious injury,” explained Mr Mills.
Finally there was the issue of his conduct in the aftermath of the murder, in particular, the prosecution said that the defendant caused the deceased’s mother to go to the scene and used words to her which might assist the court in deciding the purpose of his first trip to the house that night.
“We are also inviting the defendant to provide assistance to the police in regards to the location of where he disposed of the murder weapon and his clothing afterwards,” said Mr Mills.
Mr Mills said that it was the prosecution case that he had used a bladed weapon like a knife.
“We understand that his case is that he used a crowbar that he picked up at the scene,” said Mr Mills.
Dafydd Roberts, defending, said that he could confirm that his client denied using a knife.
The case was adjourned until November 7.
