The scene of an arson attack involving a car at Caia Park, Wrexham in 2012
A campaign has been launched in a determined attempt to eradicate arson attacks which have been blighting Wrexham for years.
Crimestoppers is working with North Wales Police and North Wales Fire and Rescue to drive down the number of deliberate fires.
In recent years cars, motorbikes, debris and foliage have been set alight by firebugs: in Caia Park last year there were 55 arson attacks.
Now Crimestoppers is launching a campaign to raise awareness of the issue and seeking information on those committing the crimes.
Leaflets are being distributed and a radio and social media campaign is taking place to encourage the public to report crime anonymously.
Gary Murray, regional manager for Crimestoppers, said: “This senseless crime is pulling police away from more serious crimes and putting our fire service at needless risk.”
